Daily Spoon AI - Privacy Policy
Daily Spoon ("the app") is built local-first. The short version: we do not collect your data.
What the app stores
Everything you enter - your baby's name, birth date, allergen history, feeding preferences, daily progress, and optional growth notes - is stored only on your device. There is no account, no sign-up, and no Daily Spoon server database of your information. We cannot see, access, or recover your data.
What leaves your device
The only network activity the app performs is:
- App Store purchases. Payment is processed entirely by Apple - we never see your payment details. To unlock the app after purchase and on your other devices, an anonymous purchase record (transaction and an app-generated random ID, never your name or Apple ID) is validated through RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider. RevenueCat cannot identify you and does not use this data for anything except managing your subscription.
- AI features (Ask Poppy and the plan brief). See the AI section below. If you never use them, nothing else is sent anywhere.
Meal photos you take for the journal are saved only on your device. The camera and photo library permissions are used solely when you add a journal photo, and photos are never uploaded anywhere. The app requests no access to your contacts or location.
Notifications
If you enable the daily reminder, scheduling happens on your device through the system notification service. No notification data leaves your phone.
Analytics and advertising
The app contains no analytics SDKs and no advertising SDKs.
To measure whether our own ads work, anonymous install and purchase signals (a device-level identifier and IP address, never your name, your baby's data, or anything you typed) may be shared with our subscription processor (RevenueCat) and our ad platform for aggregate campaign measurement. These signals cannot be used to identify you, and none of your in-app content is ever included.
AI features
Ask Poppy chat and the plan brief are powered by an AI model. When you use them, your message (or a summary of your onboarding answers) plus minimal plan context (baby's first name if you entered one, age in months, current day, allergen progress) is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API to generate the answer.
These messages are used only to generate the response and are not stored on our server; we keep only an anonymous per-device daily usage counter for rate limiting. Journal photos and notes never leave your device. If you never use the AI features, nothing is sent anywhere.
Your data, your control
- Export: Settings > "Export my data" saves a complete JSON copy anywhere you choose.
- Delete: Settings > "Delete all data" wipes the device copy immediately. Because no cloud copy exists, deletion is complete and irreversible.
- Uninstalling the app also removes all stored data.
Children's privacy
Daily Spoon is used by parents and caregivers, not by children. Information about your baby that you choose to enter stays on your device as described above and is never transmitted to us or anyone else.
Health disclaimer
Daily Spoon provides educational feeding guidance based on NHS, AAP, and CDC infant feeding recommendations. It is not medical advice and does not diagnose any condition. Always consult your pediatrician about your baby's health.
Changes
If a future version ever changes what data the app handles, this policy and the app listing will be updated before that version ships.
